Resumo
The present paper deals with the kinship relations within the Galibí Indians (Caribean), located today at the· Oiapoque River, Territory of Amapá, Brazil. A general description of those Indians has been alre'ady the subject of a paper by the Author (Arnaud, 1966) .
In the introduction, details are presenteeI about the population
of the mentioned Indians and their recent division in two local groups . The paper includes the following parts: Present day situation; kinship terminolcgy; the marriage; residence
and descent.
A comparative listing of kinship terms and analogies with Garibean groups such as the Kalifia (Ahlbrink, 1931), Aparaí (Kirchhoff, 1931, apud Gillin, 1948), Tiriyó (Frikel, 1960), Panáre, Yabarâna and Makiritáre (Wilbert, 1963); Waiwai(Fock, 1963) and Makuxí (Diniz,1965) is given.
