A presente dissertação estuda a influência da urbanização no Parque Zoobotânico-PZB do
Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi, parque público urbano tombado como patrimônio estadual e
federal, localizado no centro da cidade de Belém. Analisa três aspectos da urbanização que
impactam a conservação do PZB: a verticalização das edificações, o adensamento de veículos
em seu entorno, bem como o seu uso público e institucional. Verifica como o sombreamento
do PZB pelos edifícios altos, o ruído produzido pelos veículos automotores e o
comportamento de visitantes e funcionários impactam a fauna, a flora e os próprios visitantes,
pondo em risco a sobrevivência do Parque. As categorias de análise examinadas neste
trabalho são urbanização, parque público urbano e proteção. O trabalho conclui que a fauna, a
flora e os visitantes do PZB estão sendo impactados negativamente pela urbanização
acelerada que caracteriza Belém e as cidades brasileiras nos séculos XX e XXI.
Resumo
The present dissertation investigates the influence of urbanization in the Zoobotanical Park -
ZBP of the Museu Paraense Emilio Goeldi, located at the center of the city of Belém. The
ZBP is an urban public park, listed as a landmarked site by the federal and state governments.
Three aspects of the urbanization process which impact the conservation of the ZBP are
analyzed: the verticalization of the buildings, the growth of the flow of vehicles around the
park, as well its institutional and public uses. This work examines how the shadowing of the
ZBP caused by the high buildings, the noise produced by the vehicles and the behavior of
visitors and employees affect the fauna, the flora and the visitors themselves, putting at risk
the maintenance of the Park. The analytical categories investigated in this work are
urbanization, urban public park and protection. The work reaches the conclusion that the
fauna, the flora and the visitors of the PZB are been negatively affected by the rapid
urbanization that characterizes Belém and the Brazilian cities, in general, during the 20th and
21st centuries.
