Os índios Araweté (Tupi) começaram a ser indentificados a partir de 1970, na região situada à margem direita do baixo Rio Xingu, conhecida como a "Terra dos Assurinis" A primeira parte do artigo apresenta aspectos gerais do ambiente regional. Na segunda parte focaliza seus contatos inter e extra-tribais e a ção exercida sobre eles pela FUNAI.
Resumo
The Araweté Indians ( Tupi ) began to be indentificados from 1970 , in the region located on the right bank of the lower Xingu River , known as the "Land of Assurinis " The first part of the article presents general aspects of the regional environment. In the second part focuses on its inter and extra -tribal contacts and tion exerted on them by FUNAI.
