A região de Serra do Navio, apesar de considerada uma das mais interessantes em ermos de diversidade de espécies na Amazônia Oriental, ainda tem sua fauna herpetológica pouco estudada. O presente estudo teve início a partir dos espécimes de anfíbios e répteis coletados na região do rio Amapari, Serra do Navío, Amapá, entre maio e novembro de 2000. O objetivo do trabalho foi de catalogar e obter dados morfológicos e morfométricos das espécies da região, além de reunir informações sobre os habitats e distribuição geográfica das mesmas. Foram reidentificados, registrados e incorporados à Coleção Herpetológica do MPEG,400 espécimes de anfíbios, 228 de lagartos e 43 de serpentes. Para a medição de anfíbios e serpentes foram utilizados, respectivamente, paquímetro digital e fita métrica. Para a sexagem, foram observadas características sexuais secundárias (anfíbios) e órgãos genitais (serpentes). Também foram registradas características de importância taxonômica, principalmente padrões de coloração em anfíbios e contagem de escamas nas serpentes. Entre os anfíbios, as famílias mais diversas foram Hylidae e Leptodactylidae, com 19 e 18 espécies respectivamente, seguidas por Bufonidae e Dendrobatidae, ambas com 5 espécies. Em relação à abundância de exemplares, a família Bufonidae foi a que apresentou maior número (118), seguida de E Leptodactylidae (88). Entre os répteis, foram registradas até o momento 32 espécies de C lagartos, duas de anfisbenídeos e 27 de serpentes. Muitos exemplares ainda têm a identificação incerta, e deverão ser examinados mais detalhadamente com a continuidade do estudo.
Resumo
The Serra do Navio region, despite being considered one of the most interesting in terms of species diversity in the Eastern Amazon, still has its herpetological fauna poorly studied. The present study started from amphibian and reptile specimens collected in the Amapari River region, Serra do Navio, Amapá, between May and November 2000. The objective of the work was to catalog and obtain morphological and morphometric data of the species of the region, as well as to gather information on their habitats and geographic distribution. A total of 400 amphibian, 228 lizard, and 43 snake specimens were re-identified, registered, and incorporated into the MPEG Herpetological Collection. To measure the amphibians and snakes we used digital pachymeters and tape measures, respectively. For sexing, secondary sexual characteristics (amphibians) and genitalia (snakes) were observed. Features of taxonomic importance, mainly coloration patterns in amphibians and scale counts in snakes, were also recorded. Among the amphibians, the most diverse families were Hylidae and Leptodactylidae, with 19 and 18 species respectively, followed by Bufonidae and Dendrobatidae, both with 5 species. Regarding the abundance of specimens, the Bufonidae family had the highest number (118), followed by E Leptodactylidae (88). Among the reptiles, 32 species of C lizards, two amphisbaenians, and 27 snakes have been recorded so far. Many specimens still have uncertain identification, and should be examined in more detail as the study continues.
