Notas sobre ciclo biológico e comportamento de neogerris visendus (gerridae: amphipoda).

Abstract

Some aspects about the biology of Neogerris visendus (Gerridae: Amphipoda), were studied in the laboratory, aiming to contribute with data mainly about immatures. Adults were captured in their natural habitat and transferred to the laboratory where they were reared in glass containers. Two groups of insects were used; the first group was used basically for breeding. The eggs were collected daily and it was obtained that the females lay an average of 5 eggs every day, the incubation time of the eggs is around 9 days, the first instar nymphs have a period of approximately 6 days, the second instar 4 days, the third and fourth instar 7 days and the fifth 6 days. Some eggs were used for morphology during the incubation period. Another group was used to make observations regarding behavior, especially reproductive behavior.
