A dissertação analisa os variados processos de transformação do território Tenetehar-Tembé e
seu entrelaçamento com a história desse povo na região do alto rio Guamá, nordeste do estado
do Pará. De forma específica, o trabalho volta-se para o entendimento do território indígena,
suas relações socioculturais e as agências Tembé em face dos diálogos e tensões com os trâmites
do poder tutelar e as redes dominantes da economia regional, os quais desvelam uma série de
violências e r-existências. Logo, a pesquisa tem como ponto de partida um estudo de longa
duração para compreender certos aspectos estruturantes que atravessam a realidade amazônica,
com foco nos Tenetehar-Tembé. A partir disso, aprofunda-se no século XX, período entre 1945
e 1993, conectando-se com o tempo presente, para esmiuçar entendimentos sobre processos
interétnicos e dinâmicas territoriais entre os Tembé, evidenciando assim outras historicidades
indígenas. Para tanto, analisa-se criticamente os documentos oficiais (escritos e imagéticos) do
SPI e da FUNAI, bem como outras fontes históricas, e as memórias e narrativas orais do povo
Tembé. Isso possibilita fomentar discussões sobre complexidades socioculturais, presenças e
agências indígenas ao longo do tempo na região amazônica, especialmente no nordeste paraense
a partir do caso dos Tenetehar-Tembé do alto rio Guamá.
Resumo
The dissertation analyzes the various processes of transformation of the Tenetehar-Tembé
territory and its intertwining with the history of this people in the region of the upper Guamá
river, northeast of the state of Pará. Specifically, the work focuses on understanding the
indigenous territory, its sociocultural relations and the Tembé agencies in the face of dialogues
and tensions with the procedures of the tutelary power and the dominant networks of the
regional economy, which reveal a series of violence and r-existences. Therefore, the research
has as its starting point a long-term study to understand certain structural aspects that cross the
Amazonian reality, focusing on the Tenetehar-Tembé. From this, it goes deeper into the 20th
century, the period between 1945 and 1993, connecting with the present time, to scrutinize
understandings about interethnic processes and territorial dynamics among the Tembé, thus
highlighting other indigenous historicities. To this end, we critically analyze the official
documents (written and imagery) of the SPI and FUNAI, as well as other historical sources,
and the memories and oral narratives of the Tembé people. This makes it possible to foster
discussions about sociocultural complexities, indigenous presences and agencies over time in
the Amazon region, especially in northeastern Pará based on the case of the Tenetehar-Tembé
from the upper Guamá River.
