O artigo considera que depois da Guerrilha do Araguaia veio outra guerra, também com graves violações de direitos humanos. No Bico do Papagaio, essa segunda guerra repete barbaridades da primeira e alcança os dias de hoje em violências contra camponeses e indígenas. As violências que ocorrem hoje têm um vínculo com o remate da guerrilha, que foi uma caçada humana, com execuções de prisioneiros,
decapitações e torturas impostas a centenas de pessoas suspeitas de ligação com os guerrilheiros. A impunidade está entre as causas da continuação dos abusos. É preciso esclarecer o passado buscando
as causas da violência para compreender o presente, e então descontinuar essa história. A partir do Estado, as comissões pela memória, verdade e justiça buscam esclarecer, reconhecer e responsabilizar, e podem ter efeitos amplos.
Resumo
The article considers that after the Guerrilla of Araguaia another war has come, also with serious violations of human rights. In the Bico do Papagaio region, this second war repeats barbarities of the fi rst and reaches the present days in aggressions against peasants and Indians. The ongoing violence has a link with the fi nal phase of the guerrilla, which was a sort of human chasing, with prisoners executions, decapitations and tortures imposed to hundreds of people under suspicion of liaison with the guerrillas.
Impunity is among the causes of the abuses continuation. It is necessary to clarify the past searching for the causes of the violence to understand the present, and then discontinue that history. From the State, the commissions of memory, truth and justice strive to clarify, recognize and defi ne responsibilities, and its effects can be broad.
