Este trabalho visa reunir informações sobre espécies florestais utilizadas na fabricação de embarcações na região da Ilha de Marajó, observando-se suas características anatômicas e dendrológicas, além de seus usos comuns na construção de peças para embarcações. O objetivo do trabalho é demonstrar a potencialidade de diferentes espécies florestais resistentes à deterioração por agentes predadores marinhos e fluviais. Nas condições em que foi realizado o estudo, verificamos que as embarcações constituem o meio de transporte mais importante no arquipélago. Essas informações são relevantes para a contribuição de novas espécies que poderão ser utilizadas na confecção de embarcações.
Resumo
This work aims to gather information on forest species used in the manufacture of boats in the region of Marajó Island, observing their anatomical and dendrological characteristics, as well as their common uses in the construction of parts for boats. The objective of the work is to demonstrate the potential of different forest species that are resistant to deterioration by marine and riverine predators. Under the conditions in which the study was carried out, we found that boats are the most important means of transportation in the archipelago. This information is relevant for the contribution of new species that can be used in the making of boats.
