O Antropoceno no Museu do Amanhã (RJ): perspectivas críticas à exposição de longa duração

Abstract

Museu do Amanhã in Rio de Janeiro discusses the environmental crisis in its long-term exhibition. The scientific proposal of a new geological age, the Anthropocene, bases the contents presented therein. The stated intention of the exhibition is to "make the visitor reflect upon his/ her own actions and the relationship with the world", implicitly, defends the sustainable development and the conscious consumption. From the observation of the exhibition, we identified boundaries in the narrative in what refers to the anthropological dimension and the characteristic policy of the Anthropocene and the environmental crisis. We reflect on the exhibition starting from the dialogue between Museology, Anthropology and Geology accessing a vast group of authors that think critically the conceptual proposal of “human age” and focus on the union of the museums and the liberal-capitalist agenda, that at the same time foment museological initiatives and control the social criticism and the emancipatory processes.
