O Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi tem sua origem na Associação Filomática (Amigos da Ciência), criada por Domingos Soares Ferreira Penna, em 6 de outubro de 1866. É o primeiro e mais importante centro de estudos científicos dos sistemas naturais e socioculturais da Amazônia. Ao longo de toda a sua trajetória, catalogou mais de 4,5 milhões de itens, dos mais diferentes
organismos, em diferentes pontos da vasta região amazônica. Este extraordinário acervo é referência mundial sobre o bioma amazônico, formado por 19 coleções, subdivididas em 40 subcoleções, sobre temas relacionados às ciências humanas, biológicas, sociais e da terra. Através da série “Coleções Científicas do Museu Goeldi” iremos desvendar toda essa riqueza,
conhecendo um pouco sobre cada um desses acervos.
Resumo
The Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi originated from the Associação Filomática (Friends of Science), created by Domingos Soares Ferreira Penna on October 6, 1866. It is the first and most important center for scientific studies of the natural and sociocultural systems of the Amazon. Throughout its history, it has cataloged more than 4.5 million items, from the most diverse organisms, in different points of the vast Amazon region. This extraordinary collection is a world reference on the Amazonian biome, formed by 19 collections, subdivided into 40 sub-collections, on themes related to the human, biological, social and earth sciences. Through the series "Scientific Collections of the Museu Goeldi" we will unveil all this richness, learning a little about each of these collections.
