Abstract

The work brings together works resulting from rigorous empirical research and presents innovative perspectives of analysis on indigenous participation in politics, their relationship with justice and the State, and the obstacles created to the guarantee of indigenous rights by the hegemonic model of development. The works demonstrate, on the one hand, the ongoing collective struggle of indigenous peoples and movements for greater inclusion, recognition and participation in national societies and, on the other, the resistance of governments and States to accept and implement indigenous rights to their lands, resources and identities.
