Title: Identificação dos insetos visitantes de inflorescências da palmeira inajá (Maximiliana maripa L.)

Abstract: The objective of the present work went verify and to identify the insects visitors of the palm tree inajá (Maximiliana maripa L.), seeking mainly the behavior in relation to the pollination processo The observations and the collections ofthe insects were accomplished among August of i9S6 to February of 1997 in natural populations and ofpasture in the country of igarapé-Açu, State Pará. The collections of the insects were made directly in the injlorescences during the period of the day, being used net entomolagical, stairway and paisano The insects were identified in the Departament of Zoology of the Wluseu Paraense Emilio Goeldi, in the laboratory ofEntomology. The results showed that the paim tree inajá was visited by insects of different orders and families: Coleoptera (Curculionidae, Tenebrionidae, Bruchidae and Scarabaeidae); Hymenoptera (Xylocopidae, Melipanidae, Halictidae and Apidae). The coleoptera, due to frequency and to its behavior, they were considered the possible pollinators, while the bees as ocasional pollinators. The orders Lepidoptera (Aegeriidae); Hymenoptera (Formicidae) and Dermaptera (Pygidicranidae) was considered predators. Among the Coleoptera, the family Scarabaeidae represented more than 70quote k of the total of collected insects.
