| metadata.dc.description.resumo: | As orquidáceas constituem uma das famílias com maior número de espécies do reino vegetal. A grande diversidade específica e a ampla distribuição geográfica fazem com que esta família seja extremamente interessante para a realização de diversos tipos de investigação científica. A região Maranhense foi selecionada para o referido estudo, por ser uma área que sofreu grandes desmatamentos e por apresentar escassez de publicações que enfoquem mais significativamente sua flora orquídica. Face a esta problemática objetivou-se o levantamento e o estudo da ecologia e distribuição geográfica das espécies existentes, bem como a catalogação de novas espécies para a região e para a ciência. O material botânico coletado é examinado em lupa e identificado através de comparações com material herborizado, com ilustrações e descrições em literaturas especializadas. Em um estudo preliminar já foi registrada a ocorrência de 102 espécies diferentes, sendo que destas, 6 são possíveis espécies novas que ainda estão em estudo. |
| Abstract: | The orchids are one of the families with the largest number of species in the plant kingdom. The great specific diversity and the wide geographic distribution make this family extremely interesting for several kinds of scientific investigation. The Maranhense region was selected for this study because it is an area that has suffered great deforestation and for presenting a scarcity of publications that focus more significantly on its orchid flora. In view of this problematic, the aim was to survey and study the ecology and geographic distribution of the existing species, as well as the cataloging of new species for the region and for science. The botanical material collected is examined under a magnifying glass and identified through comparisons with herborized material, with illustrations and descriptions in specialized literature. In a preliminary study, 102 different species have already been registered, of which 6 are possible new species that are still being studied. |
