| metadata.dc.description.resumo: | Amazonia has drawn the interest of researchers over the last few decades as a region with evidence for extensive ancient/past indigenous landscape domestication. Among the major issues surrounding the nature of landscape domestication of pre-Columbian Amazonians, its scale is critically connected with other major problems in the history of Amazonia such as forms of urbanism, land engineering and agriculture. In recent years, some research in historical ecology has focused on developing methods to calibrate landscape domestication by interpreting the effects of human activity on the formation of the modern Amazonian landscape. This paper presents regionalscale research in the Floresta Nacional de Caxiuan˜a (FNC) to provide a method to trace and calibrate long-term forest management. With the data collected from the FNC and satellite images, the relationship between soils, an Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) and landscape domestication are explored. |
| Abstract: | A Amazônia tem atraído o interesse de pesquisadores nas últimas décadas por ser uma região com evidências de extensa domesticação de paisagens indígenas antigas/passadas. Entre as principais questões que cercam a natureza da domesticação de paisagens da Amazônia pré-colombiana, sua escala está criticamente conectada a outros problemas importantes na história da Amazônia, como formas de urbanismo, engenharia de terras e agricultura. Nos últimos anos, algumas pesquisas em ecologia histórica têm se concentrado no desenvolvimento de métodos para calibrar a domesticação de paisagens, interpretando os efeitos da atividade humana na formação da paisagem amazônica moderna. Este artigo apresenta pesquisas em escala regional na Floresta Nacional de Caxiúna (FNC) para fornecer um método para rastrear e calibrar o manejo florestal de longo prazo. Com os dados coletados da FNC e de imagens de satélite, explora-se a relação entre solos, um Índice de Vegetação Aprimorado (EVI) e a domesticação de paisagens. |
