Title: Considerações preliminares sobre a Arqueologia do Alto Xingu (Mato Grosso)
metadata.dc.creator: Simões, Mário Ferreira
Abstract: The region surveyed lios in the state of Mato Grosso, in a zone of gallery forest and savanna, with warm wet winters and cool dry summers. Twelve habitation sites were investigated, 7 on the upper Xingu and 5 on the lower Culuene (fig 11), with two or more stratigraphic excavations made in each. Preliminarys analysis of the pottery suggest that this geographical division corresponds to two archeological phases, but names have not been assigned pending more detailed study of the material.
