dc.description.abstractAmburana cearensis A.C. Smith é uma planta encontrada no Nordeste do Brasil que demonstrou efeitos antioxidantes, anti-inflamatórios e imunomoduladores. Aqui, foram relatados os efeitos biológicos e alguns mecanismos subjacentes de ação de A. cearensis. O pó do caule de A. cearensis foi usado para preparar seu extrato hidroalcoólico, sua análise elementar e suas atividades antioxidante, antifúngica, citotóxica, antiproliferativa e inibitória da acetilcolinesterase. Descobrimos que o extrato hidroalcoólico de A. cearensis apresentou atividade antioxidante e citotóxica, principalmente em concentrações mais altas, embora tenha reduzido a viabilidade celular. Os compostos orgânicos indicam o potencial promissor desta planta como medicamento. Curiosamente, A. cearensis também demonstrou atividade antiproliferativa contra carcinoma de mama e atividade inibitória da acetilcolinesterase, quando comparado ao controle positivo (Physostigmine®). Em conclusão, essas evidências revelam que A. cearensis possui propriedades medicinais devido aos seus constituintes e mostram que A. cearensis apresenta, no mínimo, atividades antioxidante, citotóxica, antiproliferativa e inibitória da acetilcolinesterase, que poderão ter futuras utilizações terapêuticas.pt_BR

dc.description.resumoAmburana cearensis A.C. Smith is a plant found in Northeastern Brazil that has been shown antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory effects. Here, were reported biological effects and some underlying mechanisms of action of A. cearensis. Stem powder of A. cearensis was used to prepare its hydroalcoholic extract, its elemental analysis, and its antioxidant, antifungal, cytotoxic, antiproliferative, and acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activities. We have found that A. cearensis hydroalcoholic extract showed antioxidant and cytotoxic activity, primarily in higher concentration, though reduction of cell viability. The organic compounds indicate the promising potential of this plant as medicine. Interestingly, A. cearensis also showed antiproliferative activity against breast carcinoma and demonstrated acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activity, when compared to positive control (Physostigmine®). In conclusion, theses evidences reveal that A. cearensis has medicinal proprieties due to its constituents and show that A. cearensis presents, at least, antioxidant, cytotoxic, antiproliferative, and acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activities, which could have future therapeutical uses.pt_BR
