Gênero galeandra lindl. (orchidaceae) na Amazônia brasileira

Abstract

The genus Galeandra Lindl. has showy flowers of variable sizes, rarely small, and is distributed in two types of habitats: terrestrial and epiphyte, with approximately twenty-six species, distributed across America. Brazil is considered its main distributor, with sixteen species occurring in the Amazon alone. The objective of this work is to study the Amazonian species, aiming at a taxonomic and ecological revision in order to obtain data to support the identification and conservation of the species. The results presented here are based on literature review, analysis of herborized material, alcohol collections and live material, which were performed with the help of a magnifying glass with a clear camera. The work includes the listing of Amazonian species accompanied by descriptions and analysis of their geographic and ecological distribution pattern. The species analyzed were: Galeandra curvifolia Barb. Rodr.; G. devoniana Schomb. Ex. Lindl.; G. dives Rchb. f.; G. lacustri Barb. Rodr.; G. minax Rchb. f.; G. montana Barb. Rodr.; G. stangeana Rchb. f., G. stillomisantha (Vell.) Hoehne. With the results obtained, we can see that in spite of the similarity, the species are differentiated by the presence and distribution of small hairs on the lip and column, also taking into consideration their geographical and ecological distribution, for example, the species G. devoniana Schomb. Ex. Lindl. only occurs in sites of black water rivers and G. curvifolia Barb. Rodr. only occurs in cerrado regions.
