Situação de Ouratea hexasperma (A.St. Hil.) Baill. face a pesquisa científica.

Abstract

Medicinal plants remain important, even in places where access to conventional medicine is easy. In the Amapá state, IEPA is a pioneer in the production of herbal medicines that incorporate native species commonly used in health care, most of them obtained by extractivism. In order to clarify the importance of medicinal use in the development of scientific research on Ouratea hexaperma (A.St. Hil.) Baill., a species from savanas amapaenses and which is part of the therapeutic repertoire of IEPA, a systematic review was made in electronic databases. The applied methodology involves the use of the acronym PICOS, to define the generating question, and the PRISMA strategy, to select the most relevant studies. Of the 91 articles citing the species, it was possible to select nine in which O. hexaperma is the main focus of the research and, among these, seven which were oriented by the medicinal use of the species. The types of research and the institutions involved were mapped. It was possible to state that medicinal use is the main motivator of research on O. hexaperma.
