A ECOLOGIA DOS SABERES E O SISTEMA DE SAÚDE NO MUNICÍPIO DE CURUÇÁ/PA THE ECOLOGY OF KNOWLEDGE AND THE HEALTH SYSTEM IN THE CITY OF CURUÇÁ/PA

Abstract

We aim in this article to analyze the dialogue between traditional and scientifi c medi-cines, in the district of São João do Abade, located in the city of Curuçá/PA. Through the concept "Ecology of Knowledge", suggested by Boaventura de Sousa Santos we verifi ed if there is the practice of the dialogue of knowledges between these two ways of thinking and doing health and, therefore, were performed fi eld research, in which were used direct observation and semi-structured interviews. We noticed the diffi culty in practicing this dialogue because of disbelief taken by health professionals in folklore, for being afraid of making use practices regarded as inferior by offi cial science.
