A família polygalaceae hoffmanns. & link na apa de Algodoal/Maiandeua, Maracanã, Pará, Brasil

Abstract

The Algodoal/Maiandeua APA has a total area of 2378 ha, with Algodoal containing 385 ha and Maiandeua 1,993 ha. It is located in the Municipality of Maracanã, Pará State, with the following geographical coordinates 00°34'45"5 and 47°31'05" W. 5its vegetation is formed by mangrove in the southern, central and northern portions of the island, apicuns in the hypersaline zones, permanently flooded forest in small patches, secondary vegetation and restinga vegetation that occupies a large strip of the sandy plain and consists of various vegetation formations such as halophilous, reptant psammophilous, herbaceous marsh, field between dunes, dunes, open shrub formation and forest. The present work is part of the project "Floristic and phytosociological studies in restingas of the state of Pará"; and aims to contribute to the taxonomic knowledge of the family Polygalaceae Hoffmanns & Link. The results were based on field collections and surveys of the collections of the herbarium "João Murça Pires" of the Emílio Goeldi Museum of Pará. The family consists of 109 genera and approximately 1300 species, with a cosmopolitan and neotropical distribution, except for New Zealand, Arctic and Antarctic zones. In Brazil there are about 240 species, distributed in seven genera, 180 of which belong only to the genus Polygala. In the Algodoal/Maiandeua APA, two genera and six species were surveyed, namely: Securidaca amazônica Chodat, Polygala appressa Benth, P. adenophora DC., P. martiana AW. Benn., P. spectabílís DC and P. variabílís Kunth. Among the results are descriptions and identification keys for the species, illustrations, data on geographic distribution, phenology and comments on the affinity among the taxa.
