metadata.dc.description.resumo:	O presente trabalho faz parte do projeto "Estudo e Conservação de Orquídeas na Região Amazônica-Brasil" e visa o conhecimento taxonômico e ecológico do gênero Galeandra. O gênero Galeandra tem grande valor ornamental, são plantas de tamanho médio a grande e apresentam flores em geral vistosas, raras vezes pequenas. Taxonomicamente encontra-se dividido em dois grupos: os das plantas terrestres e os das plantas epífitas, e composto por aproximadamente vinte e quatro espécies destas, quatorze são encontradas na Amazônia Brasileira. Diferenciam-se bastante quanto ao seu porte e hábito, distribuídos por diversos países da América do Sul, principalmente o Brasil. Os resultados aqui apresentados baseiam-se em revisão bibliográfica, análise do material herborizado, coleção em álcool e material vivo. O trabalho inclui listagem das espécies amazônicas acompanhadas de descrições e análise do padrão de distribuição geográfica das mesmas (CNPq/MPEG).
Abstract:	The present work is part of the project "Study and Conservation of Orchids in the Amazon Region-Brazil" and aims at the taxonomic and ecological knowledge of the genus Galeandra. The genus Galeandra has great ornamental value, they are medium to large sized plants and present flowers that are generally showy, rarely small. Taxonomically it is divided in two groups: the terrestrial plants and the epiphyte plants, and composed by about twenty-four species, fourteen of them are found in the Brazilian Amazon. They differ greatly in size and habit, distributed throughout several countries in South America, mainly Brazil. The results presented here are based on literature review, analysis of herborized material, alcohol collections and live material. The work includes listing of Amazonian species accompanied by descriptions and analysis of their geographical distribution pattern (CNPq/MPEG).
